Who We Are
We are the Rankin Culture and Recreation Centre Inc., a non-profit corporation dedicated to serving the communities of the Ottawa Valley. Our centre is run entirely by volunteers who give their time and energy to keep this community gem operating year-round.
The RCRC is more than just a building — it's a gathering place where friendships are forged, milestones are celebrated, and the spirit of community is kept alive. We welcome everyone to join us, whether as a member, volunteer, event guest, or program participant.
The Story of the Rankin Centre
The 'Centre' has been around for many years under various forms. In fact, the original was built in 1963. For decades it served as a cornerstone of the community — the place where neighbours gathered, where celebrations happened, and where the heart of the Ottawa Valley beat strongest.
Unfortunately, the 'Rink' as it's known to most, burned in a fire on March 15, 2005. This was a great loss for our entire community and surrounding area. The flames took not just a building, but decades of shared memories and the hub around which so much community life revolved.
When asked if they wanted to rebuild or simply cease operations, the community gathered and gave a unanimous thumbs up to rebuild. The decision was clear: Rankin would rise again.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of volunteers, the generous support of community donors, and funding from partners including the Canada 150 Community Fund and the Government of Ontario, the new Rankin Culture & Recreation Centre was built.
Everyone agrees that the new Rankin Culture & Recreation Centre is BIGGER AND BETTER!! And that's a testament to what a community can accomplish when it comes together with purpose and heart.
